Right around the corner from the entrance to the Oak Lab, there is a Wolf Spider that sleeps under a leaf, during the day, that is easy pickings. There is another spot I like to use, early game. Make sure to put a lean-to nearby in case of misadventure and good luck! Extra arrows are for cases where you miss or you get unlucky and aggro both spiders. This is because you’re standing on a surface it can’t stand on so the AI just freezes in place. If done properly, there should be one spider below you staring up with its two front legs in the air, but unable to attack you. Crow Crossbow is very worth the investment if you have that option available.ĭuring the day the spiders are sleeping so go to the entrance that has a twig that leads up to a yard lantern, shoot one spider and immediately jump about halfway up the twig, don’t go all the way up. You won’t need this many, but having extras helps in case you screw up step two. Jump attack was usually game over as well. After much science I’ve figured out how to farm the wolf spiders in the oak tree pretty effortlessly so I wanna pass on the info for anyone struggling to get fangs and poison. Crouching lunge used to be a one hit kill (you'd survive but poison would often finish you). Sure, Acorn armor is considered heavy now but still I was surprised how little damage he did (outside of the 5 hit combo). Honestly Wolf spiders got fairly nerfed in damage it feels like. All was recorded on normal/medium difficulty. I also then have a second part where I deliberately take some hits to show that it is usually survivable as well as how it is safe to heal between hits. Here's a bit of practice I did this morning for this update for showing block timings on Wolf with basic gear and no perks equipped. Block timing is pretty much right after his mouth quits moving. The tell for this is the pose and mouth movement. He will also visibly move his mouth parts a few times. He will lean away from you (and sort of at an angle so he will be leaning slightly left or right) before coming forward again to bite. His easiest attack though it does come out a bit quick. Block timing is as he finishes leaning back/starting to come forward again.Ĥ. Biggest tell of this one is at the start and how he doesn't do anything for a second or two. This is his slowest attack but the end where he hits is a bit faster. He will stand up a bit higher off the ground before then leaning backward and lunging forward again. Block timing is pretty much right after he is off your screen.ģ. He will briefly crouch and raise both front legs up before leaping straight up into the air. Block timings are pretty much right when you would think when watching it.Ģ. Also be wary of the slight delay between hit 4 and hit 5. Best I can give for seeing this move is Wolf will raise just his right legs up before starting it. This is their deadliest move when you aren't used to them as if you take all 5 hits you're pretty much going to die. As you learn both their sounds and their body language for their attacks it will become much easier to deal with them.ġ. Wolf Spiders really only have four attacks that you have to memorize. They are weak to slash so early game your best weapon against them would be the axe. And yes, he does give you time between hits to heal/apply a bandage.ģ. Bring bandages and smoothies if you have them. Poison isn't near as deadly as it used to be but you'll still need to account for it if you do take a hit. This will give you the defense to be able to take a few hits from the Wolf without dying super fast.Ģ. You'll have a bit easier time with both of you attacking at least but you'll still need to be careful.ġ. You'll simply need to practice against it over and over.
